Lord Buddha's original name was Siddhartha. It meant one who had accomplished his aim. Gautama was Siddhartha's family name. Siddhartha was known all over the world as Buddha. He was also known by the name of Sakhya Muni. Lord Buddha father’s name was Suddhodana, The king of the Sakhyas. Buddha's mother was named Maya. Lord Buddha was born in B.C. 560 and died at the age of eighty in B.C. 480. The Buddha has been a symbol of wisdom and enlightenment for centuries.
